  • Tankmates: Compatible with other peaceful species like tetras, rasboras, danios, guppies, and corydoras. Avoid keeping with large or aggressive fish.
  • Social Behavior: Shoaling fish; best kept in groups of at least 6 or more to display natural behaviors and reduce stress.

Habitat Requirements:

  • Tank Size: Minimum of 20 gallons for a small group; larger tanks preferred for larger schools.
  • Water Parameters:
    • Temperature: 24°C–28°C (75°F–82°F).

    • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water (5–15 dGH).

    • Open swimming areas are essential for their active nature.
    • Decorations like driftwood and rocks enhance the natural habitat feel.

Diet:

  • Omnivorous: Enjoys a varied diet, including:
    • High-quality flakes or pellets.
    • Live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.
    • Occasional vegetable matter like spirulina flakes or blanched zucchini.

Care Tips:

  1. Maintain excellent water quality with regular water changes, as they are sensitive to poor conditions.
  2. Provide adequate space for swimming and a mix of shaded and open areas to mimic their natural habitat.
  3. Keep in groups to enhance their vibrant coloration and reduce stress.

Breeding:

  • Reproduction: Egg scatterers; males display vibrant colors to attract females during courtship.
  • Setup: Use a breeding tank with soft, slightly acidic water and fine-leaved plants or spawning mops for egg attachment.
  • Egg Care: Remove adults after spawning to prevent them from eating the eggs. Eggs hatch within 7–10 days.
  • Fry Diet: Feed infusoria or finely crushed fry food initially, transitioning to baby brine shrimp as they grow.

The Neon Dwarf Rainbowfish is a hardy and visually stunning species that thrives in well-maintained community tanks. Their shimmering colors and lively nature make them a centerpiece in any aquarium setup.
